Missing GI was killed - William H. Harff, Jr.
Sp/4 William H. Harff Jr.,was killed in Vietnam April 28. He died during a combat operation when his unit was attacked with hostile mortar fire. William was 23 years old. He entered the U.S. Army on May 9, 1967 and received his basic training at Ft. Campbell, Ky. His tour of duty began Oct. 15.
Craig R. Harff
1st Lt. Craig R. Harff, 21, died in Korea eight months after his older borther William was killed in combat in Vietnam. Craig is the son of Mr. and Mrs. William H. Harff Sr.Lt. Harff died of an accidental gun-shot wound. Another soldier's weapon discharged on the rifle range at Camp St. Barbara, Korea.
On April 28, his brother William Harff Jr.,23, was killed in Vietnam when his infantry unit was attacked with hostile mortar fire.
Lt. Harff had been recently promoted at Camp Red Cloud, Korea and was serving as provost marshal of the 55th MP Detachment at Camp St. Barbara at the time of his death.
Craig enlisted in the Army in January, 1967. He received training at Ft. Jackson, S.C. and Ft. Lewis, Wash. Harff attended Officer Candidate School at Ft. Benning, Ga. He received military police training at Ft.. Cordon, Ga.., following his being commissioned a second lieutenant. He returned to Ft. Lewis for duty with the 61st MP co.
Craig was born Oct. 25, 1947, and was educated at Victory School, Lincoln Jr. High School and Mary D. Bradford High School. Craig was a member of the Tremper High School's first graduating class.
He married Miss Nancy Hale on May 25 and was a member of the first Methodist Church.
